Ken Bell

Ken Bell is an electrical engineer by training, with international consulting credentials in machine and facility automation, especially regarding media systems. He has at various times been a member of IEEE, USITT, AES and ACM. He has contributed articles to Sound and Video Contractor and Entertainment Design, and he served a term as Chair of the Technical Standards Board, MIDI Manufacturers Association.

Ken has intimate experience in product development, both as an entrepreneur and in application. His first start-up imploded in 1984. From 1985 to 1992 he designed stadium-scale audio and video systems, constantly using new technologies. From 1992 to 2004 he championed the emerging industry of show control, where electrical and mechanical elements are integrated with media content to provide seamless stage presentations. No matter what, the show must always go on - thirty years of working through tough technical issues under severe deadlines have given Ken an intuitive sense of what can AND WILL go wrong in development.

Ken joined IAG in 2004. His science portfolio includes cosmetic formulations, pharmaceuticals, assistive and medical devices, traditional and alternate energy, wireless communications, entertainment, food processing, avionics and jet engines. In the community, Ken reviews candidates for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC, and entertains Grade 7 and 8 students with lectures on experimental design for Scientists and Innovators in the Schools.
